CP2 – Economic Principles Grading Rubric

Participation/Class Notebook = 25%

- Participation grades will be given every day there is new material presented.

- Participation will be partially evaluated by showing that the question of the day has been written down in a single continuous notebook in order and answered correctly by an example. ANY LOST NOTEBOOK SHOULD BE REPORTED IMMEDIATELY, NO EXCEPTIONS.

- Participation is negatively impacted by such things as: working on non-math related items, failing to attempt classwork, packing up early, being asked to move seats for as a result of distracting others and FAILING TO COME PREPARED TO CLASS WITH A CHARGED IPAD AND WRITING UTENCIL and so on.

- Participation is NOT negatively impacted if a student is quietly following along with the class but does not volunteer to answer questions on a regular basis as long as their class notebook is filled out daily.

Homework= 25%

- Homework/classwork will be given most days. If you are absent it is your responsibility to ask for your makeup work or check the website/showbie. There are three grade options. 100, 50, or 0.

- Homework and classwork may only be made up if you are absent. I do not accept late homework/classwork.

- If you are absent, you have as many days as you were absent to make up the work.

Quizzes = 25%

- There will be a quiz given most weeks. Quizzes may be made up for a new grade within the grading quarter that the quiz was given. The retake will be the same material but different questions. They must be made up after school (tues/thurs). Arrangement must be made with me before you come to an afterschool session.

- If you are absent for a quiz, you have one week to make it up after school (tues).

- The lowest quiz from each term is dropped.

- All quizzes are open student/teacher notes. My website and my website only (algebranotes.info) will be allowed for use during all tests and quizzes. Any other  website during a test/quiz will be considered cheating and will result in an automatic zero.

Those requiring extra time know that I plan for students to have 50-100% extra time in class on the day of the exam. This means if a quiz is scheduled for one period, that those requiring/requesting extra time, there will be up to 100% extra time made available on the day of the assessment in class. If extenuating circumstances require more time on a quiz outside of  the scheduled quiz period, the questions that have been seen but not attempted will be replaced with similar but different problems to protect test/quiz security.

Tests/Projects = 50%

- There will be several tests and/or projects given each term. Tests/projects may not be made up for a new grade under any circumstance (all test grades are final).

- Tests are scaled according to the highest score. They highest score is changed to 100%, and the rest are adjusted accordingly. For example, if the highest grade in the class is 96%, all students will receive 4%.

- If you are absent for a test, you have one week to make it up after school (tues).

- All tests are open student/teacher notes. My website and my website only (algebranotes.info) will be allowed for use during all tests and quizzes. Any other  website during a test/quiz will be considered cheating and will result in an automatic zero.

- If you are absent for more than 25% of a group project, you must complete the project on your own. All group members MUST have enought group material in their possession every class period to continue working. ANY STUDENT WHO TELLS ME THAT THEIR PEER HAS THEIR GROUPWORK WILL RECEIVE A ZERO FOR THE DAY AND MUST START THE PROJECT OVER FROM THE START REGARDLESS OF HOW MUCH WORK YOUR PEER(S) HAVE IN THERI POSSESSION.
